James (Jim) Dale Carper, 68, of Margate, Florida, passed away suddenly on December 18, 2021.
Jim was born on May 5, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, to Dale and Catherine (Kitty) Carper.
He graduated from Madison-Grant High School in Fairmount, Indiana in May of 1971. In July 1972, Jim enlisted into the United States Army as a Military Police Officer. During his time in the service, he was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He loved his time in the Army and has always enjoyed sharing memories and stories with everyone. Jim was a true patriot to our country!
Jim enjoyed his cigars along with a good drink. He loved working on projects in his workshop and was extremely handy. Jim adored his four legged “girls”, Stella and Twinkie along with the late Gretchen. Jim loved his family and friends and would do anything for them.
He is survived by his children, Margaret, Nicole, and David; 4 grandchildren; Kayla, Jasmine, Neylani and Katie; brother, David; sisters, Peggy and Jeanne; several nieces and nephews; and companion, Janis.

Still grateful for the visit I had with Jim right before he passed. We had a chance to share some stories in front of my wife. I don't often talk about my time in the service and she enjoyed it greatly. Jim was a big part of that time of my life.

Jim talked me into hitch hiking from Ft. Knox, Kentucky to Miami, Florida to visit a relative of his. Was one of the craziest adventures I had ever been on. For Jim, it was just another day in his life.

Jim and I entered the Army on the same day from Indiana. We went through boot camp together, MP training, and stationed at the same base in Germany. The day I got out, Jim gave me a ride to his home. So that was as together as it could possibly be. Glad I was able to visit him right before he passed. He was a good guy and missed by his Army budddies.

Jim and served together as Military Policemen in Frankfurt, Germany from Jan 1973 until July 1975. Life in the military is unique and being overseas, your unit and fellow soldiers become your family. Jim was always fun to be around and he had his own sense of humor - which is not a bad thing. My memories of Jim are many and my heartfelt condolences for his siblings, children and grandchildren.

I am sorry for your losss. I served in the Military with Jim. I went through boot camp, MP school and stationed in Germany with Jim for the remained of our service time. Jim was always lots of fun and enjoyed just about everything he did. He was a big part or our time together and will be missed by me and all the guys in the unit. God bless.

Life is a river that goes where it must but always returns to the Sea. Someday we'll all meet again there on the shore and have a beer at Pop's place, all the guys from the 97th. We'll raise our glasses to Jim, the guy who always had our back.

My sympathy to the family. Jim and I were friends from work and kept in touch after he retired. We shared so many stories and our love for our dogs, with both of us having a Stella. Jim was such a gentleman, so thoughtful and kind. He hung up all of the pictures in my office and was the type who could fix anything. He also gave me several “tchotchkes” that remind me of his friendship and I will miss him.
