James Lawrence Chisholm

On September 21, 2023, at the age of 83, we lost an amazing, loving, funny, intelligent, selfless, talented man of God, James Lawrence Chisholm. He was born August 15, 1940 in Henry County, KY, and lived his young life in and around Frankfort, KY. He attended the University of Kentucky, and graduated salutatorian from Kentucky State University. He later obtained his Master's Degree from The University of Virginia, Charlottesville. The majority of his career was spent with the U.S. Government Dept. of Interior, a few of those years as Deputy Executive Director of the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force in Miami. He was also an incredibly skilled lifelong organist, playing for Bellepoint Baptist Church in Frankfort, and numerous churches in and around Knoxville, TN. In 1962 he was playing at The Statesman restaurant in Frankfort, when he met his future bride, his "gift from Heaven," that he married in 1964. To our family, he was a scholar, a teacher, a musician, a songwriter, an incredible caring father, and a truly devoted and loving husband. James (Jim/Jimmy) is survived by his wife of 58 years Peggy Kuykendall Chisholm, his sons David Lawrence and Daniel William Chisholm, his granddaughters Reilly Eilis and Brittany Mae Chisholm, and his sister Carol Dean Jones.
