James Close Obituary
Jim's love of science led to his career as a nuclear engineer at Idaho National Laboratory. Jim was a man of boundless love, compassion, and an unwavering sense of social justice. He took on the role of "dad" to many, extending his love and guidance to many.
Jim found joy in sharing his passions with his family. He was an avid outdoorsman, with a deep appreciation for nature. Whether hiking, skiing, boating, or fishing, he had a love of the natural world and loved to share it with others. Jim coached soccer, hockey, and was president of the local figuring skating club, supporting his children in their own passions.
Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Ellen Walsh Close; his children, Mary Ellen McKenna (Pat McKenna), Tamara Close, Jamie Close (Bret deZordo), and Mark Close; and his grandchildren, Andrew Fischer and Donovan Duiven.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held after the holiday season.
Jim's legacy of love, support, and deep appreciation for the beauty of the world will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.

Ellen, we were sad to hear the news of Jim's passing. He was such a strong and vital part of your entire family. He will be truly missed. When he reads all these notes from his new spot in heaven he will smile at all the compliments. He was a man of so many skills, always supporting others without being asked. I first met Jim in 1978 at work at the then INEL. He introduced me to southern Utah. We backpacked the Paria with several friends.

I had the pleasure of working with Jim several years ago at St. Vincent de Paul in Cottonwood. He was our security guard on his shift. He had a wonderful personality, loved helping others and a very kind and generous man. Prayers Jim rests in eternal peace with God and may perpetual light shine upon him now and forever!
