Ran today in the pouring rain. Suddenly I was reminded of the time you and I went quail hunting near Camp Point. There was snow and ice on the ground and it was below zero. We walked for miles and saw not a single bird. Your cheeks were bright red and we were frozen solid by the time we got back to the Blazer. We got in and you turned to me and said it was the best time in a long time. Thank you for reminding me of that and for teaching me the fun isnt always a prize. Some times the fun is more in the hunt.

Jim was a friend from the early morning swimming group at Meramec community college. He and Art were best friends. We had about 18 swimmers at the time. He was an inspiration to us all. One time the heaters were not working so the water was freezing cold. He dove in when none of us had the courage and swam from one end to the other. After that he got out stating that both his pacemaker and defribulator fired off. He was a wonderful good man and was devoted to his wife. I am sorry I didnt know he passed away. I am sorry for your loss. Marianne Steingruby

Jim is my uncle, butonly ten years olderhe was really my big brother. From kindergarten through high school and college, and then the Army, I tried to be just like him. I remember even trying to imitate the way he spoke. He was with me when I learned to hunt, to fish, to drive a truck, to work. Jim and Beansy Anderson taught me how to be a friend. Jim didn't actually teachhe just set the example I followed. Even when we were both busy becoming old men, he was always somewhere in the bowl of my mind.
Peace to his soul. And comfort to Madeleine and her family.

My love, thoughts, and prayers, to Jim's family! Worked with him, in Food Serv. Div., of Campbell's, in the '70's! Played the organ for the Children's Choir at St. Elizabeth's, so saw him Sundays, too! He was truly a gentleman of integrity! His humor, and smile, brought joy to an otherwise dull day, at the office! Your loss is Heaven's gain! God bless All!
