James Curtis Obituary
He was born July 1, 1936 in Ben Wheeler, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Smith County. He founded both New Jerusalem Baptist Church and Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He was well-known for serving in many capacities in the community.
Preceding him in death include his wife, parents and one brother.
Left to cherish his memories are: one son, Terence "Charlie" Curtis, Atlanta, Georgia and one daughter, Ora "Jay Jay" Curtis- Nails (Floyd), Tyler, Texas; three sisters, Willie Jean Golden, Ora Mae Owens, and Ruth Ross all of Tyler, Texas; ten grandchildren and one great- grandchild.
Viewing will be 1:00-5:00pm at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with visitation from 6-8pm.

My condolences goes out to J,J and family of Rev Curtis will miss his preaching, singing and making him that German Chocolate Cake when he ask for one. I will truly miss him he'll always be my Pastor.
