James Allen Dawson, age 60 of Bourbon, passed away at 6 pm, Friday, November 11, 2022 at his residence of natural causes. He was born April 23, 1962 in Columbus, OH to John Wesley and Jenny (Leach) Dawson.
Mr. Dawson had lived most of his adult life in Bourbon. He had worked for Dawson Construction. James had a big heart. He loved his family and was a people person. He loved making people laugh.
Surviving are his sons, James Dawson II, Bourbon, Jeremy (Alysia) Dawson, Nappanee; grandchildren, Elijah, Ezekiel; Jacob, Ayla, James III and Andrew; siblings, Mark Dawson, Rochester, Alice Schmucker, Rochester, Peggy Bailey, Warsaw, Lucinda Dawson, Kentucky; and wife, Debra (Tillotson) Dawson, Bourbon. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rena Marie Dawson; parents; and brothers, John and Bobby Dawson.
Family and friends may call from 12 – 2 pm, Friday, November 18, 2022 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee with funeral services beginning at 2:00 pm. Rev. Mark Miller, pastor of The Heartland Church will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Potawatomi Wild Life Park, Tippecanoe.

I knew James when he was in grade school.Didn't know he would end up marrying my neice Debbie. We worked at same place years ago and he made me some fudge. I noticed over the years he was always trying to help his family.

He was a good man he was more of a father to me than even my own he taught me many things and I'll miss him very much. I wish I got the chance to make him his peanut butter candy or the green bean casserole he liked
