Thelbert Cunningham

LA GRANGE - Mr. Thelbert Cunningham, 77, passed away late Thursday evening, Aug. 28, 2008, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. A native of Greene County, he was born April 10, 1931, the son of Lee and Libby Sutton Cunningham. Throughout his life Mr. Cunningham had been a tobacco farmer and worked for 35 years with L. Harvey & Sons as a truck driver, a job he dearly loved and enjoyed. Mr. Cunningham was a member of Hull Road F.W.B. Church. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 31, at the Snow Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Leon Grubbs officiating. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Cunningham and Ray Cunningham; and a sister, Margie Price. His surviving family includes his wife of 58 years, Janet Wade Cunningham of the home; a daughter, Beverly Cunningham Radford and husband Carnell of La Grange; sisters, Laura Thrift of Florida, Ruby Mewborn of Snow Hill, Frances Edmundson of Kinston, Margaret Croom of Ormondsville and Evelyn Sutton of La Grange; and brothers, Ervin Cunningham and wife Ann, of Kinston, and Jimmy Cunningham and wife Gloria, of Maryland. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service in Snow Hill, and other times at the residence, 2816 Arba Jason Road, La Grange, N.C.
