Jim was born in Marathon County, Wisconsin on May 12, 1964, to Dale Dexter and Phyllis (Zoromski) Magiary. Jim worked at Princeton High School for 15 years as a guidance counselor, where he made a difference in the lives of many young adults. An outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed traveling with his friends and hunting with his brothers. Jim absolutely loved two things: his family and the Green Bay Packers.

Jim is survived by his wife of 15 years, Tammy Dexter of Evansville; stepdaughter, Jordan Ringham and daughter, Elizabeth Dexter; stepson, Jacob Ringham and son, Everett Dexter, all of Evansville; mother, Phyllis (Curt) Magiary; sisters, Denise (Mark) Freeman of Ashwaubenon, WI; Ann (Kevin) Imhoff of Marathon, WI; and Jennifer (Matt) Buccholz of Little Suamaco, WI; brothers, Mark (Pam) Dexter of Schofield, WI; Calvin Dexter of Wausau, WI; Barry (Marie) Dexter of Wausau, WI; Perry Dexter of South Dakota; and Brian (Sandi) Dexter of Portage, WI; and by many nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, Dale Dexter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 4, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 613 Cherry St., Evansville, IN with Father Stephen P. Lintzenich celebrating.

It's been 10 years since Jim has passed and I miss him; he was a darn good Hunting buddy. Jim always had a pleasant demeanor, something interesting to talk about, and would do just about anything to make your hunting trip a good one. I think about you buddy start of every Hunting season. Wish you were here.

Tammy, Elizabeth, Ev, Jordan, Jacob, Family & Friends,

Jim was a great man with so many qualities I admired and respected. He was my role model, mentor, confidant, and friend. I will forever cherish our countless hours on the trout streams, family vacations, and our annual fellas trips. He will be missed, but never
forgotten. Your children may some day grow tired of me telling them stories about their Dad, but I never will. You can count on me for whatever for whatever you need. All my love - Matty

I would like to say that Jim was a very good friend of mine and their is great sadness in my heart. I know that Jim will be greatly missed by many as he was an incredible person in many ways to many people. I feel lucky to have known Jim for many years and have him as a friend. I want to say God Bless his family and friends and my deepest sympathy to Tammy and the kids.

Tammy, Dexter's, All who knew Jim Dexter, the more I think about Jim the more I admire him and the more blessed I feel we were to know Jim. He was my role model, my mentor, one of my closest friends, my idol growing up and my Cousin. I thought about why he was my role model and I've come up with some of traits Jim had, displayed and lived by; sincere, caring, supportive, intellectual, funny, sometimes hilarious, understanding, honest, humble, polite, hard working, charismatic, fun loving, good natured, proud, even tempered, coffee drinking, good looking, joyous and lovable. Jim always made me feel important, valued, loved and it was his nature and who he was. I am still is disbelief he is no longer here with us. But by thinking about who Jim was, a reflection of all the Dexter family, and how incredibly much he impacted my life, I have come to the conclusion that Jim Dexter had an impact in life and he continues to affect me in his passing. Jim Dexter was and is an example of a fantastic man. Tammy you know who Jim liked to have near him? People with those same qualities because you share all of those with him. I saw complete joy, and total bliss in Jim when he was with you and your Families' together! He and you are very special people. Feel my love and a huge hug during this difficult time.

Very painfully and sincerely,

Cousin Scottie
P.S. I tried to write this several times as I continued to think about who Jim Dexter was and the affect he continues to have on me today.

Aunt Tammy I don't know if you remember me my name is Greg Dexter, Perry Dexters son. My me and my familys prayers are with you and our cousins. I really enjoyed hunting with uncle Jimmy, unfortunately I don't get to spend as much time as i would like with family cause I live a little bit further away but I have a great last memory with uncle Jimmy that i would like to share. I remember hunting in the birch bay stand in Eleron the evening was coming to an end we both walked back to the cabin talking about the monster buck we had just witnessed and catching up in life. I will miss him. We love guys.
