James Dietz Obituary

James J. Dietz Sr. age 74 of Effort passed away January 17th at St. Luke's Anderson Campus in Easton. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on Jan. 24, 1940 son of the late Joseph and Loretta (Cunneen) Dietz. Loving husband of Rita (Oates) Dietz. They celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary on January 6th. James had worked as a driver for Greyhound Bus Lines in NYC for 40 years until retiring. He served our country in the Army National Guard for 9 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. He would fly all over the country and bring his trohies home to add to his collection. His love of family, enjoyment of life and appreciation for the outdoors are gifts we will carry with us forever. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Gilbert. We have been blessed with the presence of James in our lives, He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Rita; three sons: James J. Dietz Jr. and Eric J. Dietz both of Effort and Richard E. Dietz and wife Kelly of Lynchburg, VA. He was a loving and gentle Grandpa to his grandchildren: Hayden and Ashley Grace Dietz both of Lynchburg, VA. He is also survived by a sister: Michaele Prokop of North Arlington, NJ; two brothers: Joseph Dietz and wife Marion of Marlton, NJ and Richard Dietz and wife Nancy of Statesville, NC and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am, Thursday, Jan. 22nd at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Gilbert. Family and friends are welcome to offer their condolences on Wed., Jan. 21st from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and Thurs. Jan. 22nd from 9-9:30 am at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert. Burial will be in Greenwich Cemetery in Stewartsville, NJ Memorial donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Jim- My family and I will hold you in our prayers. I remember the good times-55 'Chevy, trips to Channel lumber for paneling, basketball in the yard. Good times. Rest in Peace.
