James R. Duckworth, 49, of Dalton, died Thursday evening at Golden Living Center in Scranton after a 10 year battle with injuries sustained from a motocross accident.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Harry A. and Jane Campbell Duckworth Jr. He was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School then went on to attend trade school in Jacksonville Fl. Prior to his injury he was employed as a sheet metal worker for Rite Temp.

Jimmy was a wonderful brother and uncle who lived life to the fullest. He was a thrill seeker who enjoyed motocross racing, remote control air planes, photography, and working on cars. He also had a great love for animals.

Surviving are four brothers Richard Duckworth and his wife Dale, Waterbury Center VT; Randy Duckworth and his wife Nancy, Clarks Summit; John Duckworth and his wife Anne, Midland VA; and Matthew Duckworth, Williamsburg, VA; a sister Linda Duckworth, Clarks Summit; his sister–in-law, Susan Duckworth, Waverly; his stepmother Leah Duckworth Williamsburg VA; beloved nieces and nephews Sara Horner, Benjamin Duckworth, Geoffrey Duckworth, Jessica Fama, Eric McAndrew, Stacy Ossenfort, Christopher Duckworth, Brittany Ossenfort , and Caroline and Claire Duckworth; eight great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother Harry Duckworth III.

A funeral service and interment will be private at the convenience of the family

Donation may be made in his name to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd, S. Abington Twp. 18411.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Service Inc. 418 S. State St. Clarks Summit Pa. 18411.
