James R. Frakes

James R. Frakes, 86, Kokomo, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at his residence. He was born September 7, 1924 in Marion, IN., to the late James and Cora (Vardeman) Frakes. He served his country in the Army from 1943until 1946. On October 12, 1947, in Kokomo, he married Edna Mae Roney, who preceded him in death on May 23, 1998 after 50 years of marriage. James worked at Milbank Manufacturing retiring as a tool and die foreman on January 31, 1991. He is survived by a daughter, Brenna (Bill) Lidy; a son, Ronald (Lynn) Frakes; a daughter in law, Pamela Frakes; Grandchildren, Ronald Frakes II, William R. Lidy, Brandy Fines, Gary Frakes II, James Frakes, Shanna Wolfe, Joseph Frakes, and Lisa McClay; and his dog scooter. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edna, a son, Gary Frakes, four brothers and one sister. Services will be at 11:00am Monday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 South Main Street. Burial will follow at Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Sunday, at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association.
