I had to keep the guest book going... I suppose I'm not ready for it to close yet. I still think of James and miss him
every single day. It's sad to know that this coming weekend it will be one year since his passing. Memory makes it feel like it was still yesterday. He still changes my life and continues to help me to always be a better person. He reminds me to laugh and smile even on a dark day.

Cathy--Ron told me about James passing in his Christmas letter. I am so, so sorry and have been thinking of you daily. I am hoping that the love of your family and friends has been of some comfort. I wish you healing, great blessings, and future joy.

Cathy,Norb, and Andrea,

Please know that you are all in the thoughts and prayers of so many that knew and loved James. And though us adults seem to lose touch as our children grow, the bonds made through their younger years through LPS and the BH Swim Club are never forgotten.

May you find some peace in the comfort of your friends and family, during this most difficult time.

Our deepest sympathy to you all.

James and I spent a lot of time on the phone when he was on-call for work two weekends ago. Everytime he called he would apologize for calling!! James was always polite, happy and a hard worker. He will be missed dearly by everyone.

I worked with you for a only a few months last year. You were always in a good mood, always had a smile on your face and were always willing to help those that needed your help. I know you will be missed not only by your family but also by your coworkers. We all know that you are in a better place but we here on earth are selfish and want you here with us. I will miss you even though I no longer work at DHS. Rest in Peace James and as Lisa asked watch over and protect CPS from Heaven.

We remember James (Jamie) as a young, happy and energetic boy who kept the life guards busy at Burton Hollow Swim Club! Our daughter Erin babysat for Andrea and James back in those days. Erin was just married on 5/28/11. Your entire family is in our thoughts and prayers.

James
You're going to be missed homie. I remember the only time we were able to go in the field together. We went to a dirty house and the cat was licking the old, nasty dirty George Foreman Grill while standing on the kitchen counter!! We laughed the entire ride back from Richmond!! Your presence, grace, smile and high fives will be missed!! :)

James,
Although we have only met you once, nearly 10 years ago, up in Blue Mountain, it so easy to see what a great, good natured, fun loving person you were. Although we have not seen you since then, we feel like we know you from the updates your dad gave, with such great pride, every time we met up or talked. You will be missed by more people than you ever would have imagined.
To the family we give our deepest condolences. Unfortunately we understand the feeling of loss, the multitude of emotions and deep, deep pain you are experiencing. We too lost a son at so nearly the same age. Your journey will be difficult and you will never lose your feeling of loss but we are confident you will find a way to live your life with James as a part of you, with the support and love of friends and family.
If there is anything we can do, we are just a phone call away.
With love and affection,

Patti Laukonis

Whereas I never formally met James at our place of work-DHS-I marvelled at the smile he always had on his face and the friendly demeanor he held. My prayers are with his family and many friends I know he must have, as he was loved by many in a short time at work. May God's peace and love surround you all during this difficult time and may James rest in the arms of the Lord.

To the Family of James Giczewski,

May you find comfort in the days, weeks, months, and years to come, to know that you have the love and support of family and friends from the Macomb County Department of Human Services. In his capacity as a Children's Services Specialist, James was a wonderful employee and a valuable asset to our agency. He has been described by many as a colleague who was always willing to lend a helping hand, and always saying something to put a smile upon your face. He will be missed by the entire Child Welfare Staff in Macomb County. We will keep your family in our thoughts and in our prayers.
~Macomb County Child Welfare Director~

There are no words to say that can make this loss any easier for any of us.. What I can do is only live on and share the love of life that James had for his family, friends, the outdoors, and everything he encountered in his life. James was one of the most genuine people I've ever met. I'm so thankful I was able to have him be such a big part of my life, even if it was a little less than a year. I feel honored and blessed that I knew him.

James always made me laugh and smile, even when he purposely tried to make me mad. He was my go-to guy when the job got tough because he could always wash away the stress with his smile and high-fives. I miss him dearly but he will forever live on in my heart.

I am an employee with the Dept of Human Services and while I only met James a handful of times over the months you could tell that he was a genuinely nice guy. He had a great sense of humor and we had a few good laughs together along with his mentor/supervisor, Lisa Mayfield. It is a tragedy that his life was too short. He will always have a place in our hearts here with our DHS family. RIP James....Katie Sowers

I am a former co-worker of James'. Although we weren't in the same office I did have the pleasure of speaking to him for a brief moment at an after work social gathering. I introduced myself as "the one who inputs your time so you get paid." He smiled and appeared "happy" to meet me. :-)

James,
I've known you for almost a year, but you touched my life forever. I'm so fortunate to have known you and to have you as a member of my "power CPS staff"! I'd like to think I played a role in teaching you the ropes of how we protect kids everyday! You were a great buddy, and would do anything in the world for me. From special pens, energy drinks, carwashes, changing tires in the snow, scouting out land for your Taco Bell, to Walmart trips to purchase goodies for your food drawer; for all of us to steal of course. Work will not be the same without you, because we need your silly jokes and smiles to get us through. I miss you! Gone too soon, but you will live in my heart. Watch over and protect us from heaven....see you on the other side~love you!
