James C. Hamilton, 92, of Monticello passed away at 7:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Kirby Medical Center, Monticello.
James was born September 7, 1931 in McLeansboro, IL to Ruth Hamilton. He married Eloise Little on January 21, 1951 in McLeansboro, IL.
James is survived by his wife, Eloise Hamilton of Monticello; son, James D. Hamilton (Jen) of Champaign; daughter, Karolyn K. Summers (Kenneth Lawrence) of Williamstown, NJ; grandchildren, Dawn Ziegler (Keith), Amber Mieras, K. Matthew Summers (Denise), Mandy Anuszkiewicz (Chris), Kyle Hamilton (Annie), Neil Hamilton, Lucas White; 16 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Dale Burnett, Charles Burnett, Robert Burnett; and sister, Norma Font. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother Ruth Burnett, and one brother.
James retired from Caterpillar after 35 years of service. Jim (dad) was a born again Christian and loved serving in the church. He loved his family so well. His love for Jesus is his legacy for generations to follow. His faith never wavered. He walked the walk of faith for all to see. He was a man of character, integrity, and sacrifice.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
