LANESVILLE HASSELBACK, JAMES C., 78, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2005, at Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany. He was born in Louisville, on May 25, 1927, the son of James E. and Mattie Elizabeth Zinninger Hasselback. He was a retired plumber and a retiree from The Courier Journal in Louisville. He was a member of the Plumbers Local 107, former leader for the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Thoroughbred Chorus in Louisville. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lanesville, a dedicated volunteer of Mount Saint Francis of Floyds Knobs, IN. and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lanesville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth E. Bailey Hasselback, infant daughter, Elizabeth R. Hasselback, and sister, Violet Hasselback. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Ann Devore of Lanesville; two stepsons, Dale Deuser of Louisville, and Philip Deuser (Doris) of Lanesville; two stepdaughters, Mona Highfill of Clarksville, IN, and Doni Ann McAfee (Barry) of New Salisbury, IN; two brother, George W. "Bill" Hasselback of Floyds Knobs, IN and Michael "Mickey" Hasselback of Louisville; three sisters, Sue Cook of Louisville, Norma Koehler of Covington, TN, and Judy Palmore of Louisville; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lanesville, with burial in the church cemetery. Father Harold Ripperger and FatherJoseph McNally will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home inGeorgetown, IN. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Jim & I work together at the Courier Journal and rode together to work. This is a lost to me and my condolence to the wife and family. He was a great friend.
