James Mervin Henson

James Mervin Henson of Beech Grove passed away on September 15, 2021. He was born a Son of the late James Floyd and Myrtie Arnett Henson in Tompkinsville, Ky on January 14, 1935. James served his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He served for three years in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he came back to home to be an entrepreneur. He and Marguarette Thomas were married in 1956 and spent many years owning and operating three bars, two ice cream shops, and one restaurant. The last bar that he purchased was his and Marguarette's pride and joy, The Brass Flamingo. James retired at 70 years old. He leaves behind three children, Juanita Scott, James Henson and Tony Henson. Four grandchildren: Mary West, Ricky Lee Henson, Tarrah Sadam and Natasha Tocassio, and ten great grandchildren: Anthony, Adam, Alyssa, Gage, Angalina, Nico, Noah, Isabella, Phoenix and Savanna. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 5 to 7 PM at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral & Cremation Services, Franklin Township Chapel, 5950 E. Thompson Road, Indianapolis, IN 46237. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow at New Crown Cemetery.
