James Hodges Obituary

James Edward Hodges, Sr. - Savannah -James Edward Hodges, Sr., 79, of Savannah, GA, died, May 22, 2006, at Hospice of Savannah. A life long resident of Savannah, James served with the US Army in World War II, receiving two bronze stars and a purple heart. After his service to his country he was employed for 41 years at Savannah Electric. He was also a member of Landrum Lodge # 48, F. & A.M.'s, the Scottish Rite Consistory -Valley of Savannah, and the Director's Staff of Alee Temple. James was preceded in death by his parents; Edward P. and Carrie B. Hodges, sister; Ann M. Hodges, and brother; George P. Hodges. Survivors include wife; of 57 years, Anne Tiencken Hodges, five sons and daughters in law; George and Lisa Hodges, of Atlanta, Neal Hodges, David and Linda Hodges, Ralph and Charleen Hodges, and James E. and Kimberly Hodges, Jr., all of Savannah, GA, daughter and son in law; Dottie and Carlton Wingett, of Pensacola, FL, brother and sister in law; Alexander "Bubba" and Alice Hodges, two sisters and brother in law; Dorothy Hodges and Freddie H. and Joe Tilton, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. at the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at the chapel of Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Shriner's Cripple Childrens Hospital, P.O. Box 14147, Savannah, GA 31416 or to a charity of your choice. Hubert C. Dad, I will miss you but, I will take care of our family; I know you are in better place. Thank you for all your wisdom and for being a good Father to me and my siblings. Also, I want all to know that you did tell me of my uncle George that I was named after and I am proud of my name.
