James Hulsey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 30, 2018.
Jim Hulsey, Sr., 94 of Signal Mountain, Tennessee passed away on April 29, 2018 after a lengthy illness. He was a retired General Contractor who was well known throughout the Chattanooga construction community. Jim served his country in the United States Navy and was a WWII submarine veteran. He completed three war patrols in the South Pacific. Jim served as commander and was also very active in the Submarine Veterans of WWII. Jim was recognized by the Navy as the oldest submarine veteran in the state of Tennessee. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf until his health prevented him from participating. He loved construction and would often just visit construction sites to just simply watch.
Left behind to cherish Jim's memory are his two children, James (Pam) Hulsey, Jr., Ooltewah, TN., and Darleen Hulsey, Signal Mountain, TN., grandchildren, James (Shauna) Hulsey, III, Citrus Springs, FL., Destiny (Kale) Martin and Brittany Hulsey, both of Asheville, NC., great-granddaughter, Kiera Hulsey, Citrus Springs, FL., step-children, Hall Reynolds, Chattanooga, TN., and Ellen (Jim) McClure, Ringgold, GA.
A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held graveside at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Thursday May 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Margaret Ferguson officiating. He will be laid to rest with full military honors.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to his caregivers, Jennifer Longwith and Deva Holdson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contribution be made in Jim's memory to either Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church or to Hospice of Chattanooga.
