James Jankowski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 18, 2025.
James "Jim" R. Jankowski, 66, of Mesa, AZ, died unexpectedly on Friday, December 6, 2024, at home. He was born to Frank and Geraldine Jankowski on August 31, 1958, in Port Huron, Michigan. He graduated from Port Huron High School in 1976. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force where he became an Integrated Avionics Systems Specialist. After four years of service, he began a career with McDonnell Douglas/Boeing from 1983 to present.

Jim was an exceptionally gifted artistic guy who loved painting, leather crafts, and making his own marbles among other things. With his wonderful sense of humor, he often appeared at comedy clubs for open mike night in Arizona. Another talent was narrating remote control car races in Tempe Arizona. He had a love for rescuing dogs and helping others. He is greatly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Dorianne; three sons, James R. Jankowski II, Christopher M. Jankowski, and Jacob W. Jankowski; and grandson Christopher M. Jankowski II, all of AZ; two sisters, Kathy Moore, and Jane (Marc) Cormack, both of Pelham, Alabama and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services to be held later.

I knew Jim for 37 years. We went way back to the late 80's where he did some lighting and made some really great band signs for music venues we both commonly frequented. We worked in the same departments off and on throughout many years at Boeing. He was a really great guy, and I am going to miss his presence and humor here at Boeing. He was so very creative and had so many talents. You left us too soon Jimbo, and I wish you peace.
