James Keeley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 9, 2024.
James Patrick Keeley, 67, passed away on May 16, 2024, at home with his loving wife after a brave and long battle with cancer. Jim was born on February 5, 1957, to Tom and Patricia Keeley in Tucson, Arizona. After Jim graduated from Salpointe High School, he studied Business and Sociology at the University of Arizona.

Jim met his wife, Theresa, while playing intramurals at the University of Arizona. They went on to have a beautiful 39-year marriage. Jim is survived by his wife, Theresa (Budenholzer) Keeley, his son Tommy Keeley, his daughter Karly Keeley, his son Kyle (KJ) Keeley, his daughter Roxy Keeley, his two granddaughters Penelope (Poppy) Keeley and Theodora (Theo) Keeley, his daughter-in-law Stephanie (Disano) Keeley, two brothers, Kevin Keeley, Chris Keeley, three sisters, Kit Keeley, Collen Thielen and Maureen Keeley-Vassberg. Jim was predeceased by his parents, and mother-in-law, Elizabeth Budenholzer.

After graduating with a B.S. in business, he eventually entered real estate, becoming the Founding Partner of the Colliers Scottsdale office. Jim was a broker and advisor to developers in the purchase, sale, and lot layout of business, office, and industrial land subdivisions. He had a 43-year-long successful career.

Jim spent his life constantly pursuing adventure, learning, and growing. When he wasn't spending time with his kids, he traveled the world with his wife and many friends. He gave his time to the community and served as a member on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Commerce Authority, a board member for First Fidelity Bank, a Scottsdale Charro, president of the Scottsdale Leadership board, Friends of the Library board and an inductee to the Scottsdale History Makers Hall of Fame.

All who knew Jim will remember him for his kindness, optimistic outlook, and love for life. His children and wife will remember him as their biggest supporter; he loved them unconditionally. His family, friends, and many communities will miss him greatly.

A funeral service was held on May 30th at St. Patrick's Church, followed by a Celebration of Life at El Chorro. Instead of flowers, we ask that you donate to Kids in Focus, (kidsinfocus.org), a nonprofit organization close to Jim's heart
