James Steven "Steve" Kell

James Steven "Steve" Kell, 55, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.He was born in Carbondale on Friday, March 19, 1954, the son of James Edwin and Betty (Leffler) Kell. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Michael Williams officiating. Interment will follow at West Salem Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.Steve is survived by his companion, Kathy McDonald of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Scott Kell and wife Tammy of Carterville and Michael Kell and fiancée Grace Pak of St. Charles, Mo.; two sisters, Pamela Dusek of Garden City, Mich., and Patti Coate of Oxford, Mich.; and sevearl nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many close friends.His parents preceded him in death.Steve owned and operated S and B Machine and Tool Company in Mt. Vernon, was a member of the Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge and was of the Presbyterian faith.
