James William "J.W." Kendrick, Sr. 73, of Spencer, VA died Friday, January 22, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, NC. He was born, October 25, 1936 in Henry County, VA to Stuart and Myrtle Ward Kendrick, both deceased.

He served in the United States Air Force and was a self-employed carpenter.

Besides his parents, Mr. Kendrick was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Kendrick.

Surviving are his wife, Lillie T. Kendrick; a daughter, Deborah Osborne, of Valrico, FL; two step-daughters, Lisa Bleakley of Virginia Beach and Lynn Reamey of Axton; a son, Jimmy W. Kendrick, II of Spencer; three sisters, Patsy Quesinberry of Martinsville, Joann Myrick of Greensboro, NC, and Becky Wade of Axton; a brother, Steve Kendrick of Spencer; and six grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, January 25, 2010 at Stella Christian Church with Minister Steve Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Ward Family Cemetery in Horsepasture.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 24, 2010 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Stella Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to Stella Christian Church, 1535 Stella Road, Patrick Springs, VA 24133.

Arrangements are by Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville Chapel.
