James Kraniak Obituary

James Michael Kraniak passed away on December 25, 2024. He was born April 16, 1944, to the late Francis and Madeline (Briggs) Kraniak. After graduating from East Detroit High School, he joined the Navy and served for three years. Upon honorable discharge, he worked in the trades as a floor installer with the majority of his career building up a business as self-employed. He had love for his faith and family and a passion for wood working, gardening, model railroading.

James (Jim) is survived by his former wife, Janice (Batkiewicz) Kraniak and his three children, Andrew Kraniak, Julie Fracasso and Peter Kraniak. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Hailey Kraniak, Ethan Fracasso, Noah Kraniak and Alyssa Fracasso. Jim is also survived by his siblings Tom (Rita) Kraniak and Mary (Doug) Sharpe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Madeline Kraniak, along with his brothers William (Bill) Kraniak and Michael Kraniak and grandchild Jonah Kraniak.

The Celebration of Life will take place at one of Jim's childhood haunts, Belle Isle, Woodside Pavilion on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. The ashes will be interred at a military cemetery to be determined at a later date.

Jimmy. You were the brother I never had. Adele St., Lincoln St. family gatherings, Christmas, your visit to Kathmandu, our trip overland to Lhasa and our final visit last year; it was all so meaningful. I always enjoyed your presence and our friendship. May your final wish come true. Mike
