James Kurtz Obituary

85 years of age and longtime resident of Fullerton in Whitehall Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening September 17, 2025 while under the care of Lehigh Valley Hospice, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Rosemary A. "Romy" (Zakos) Kurtz who passed away on March 29, 2015.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Woodrow and Ethel (Steele) Kurtz. A graduate of Allentown High School, James honorably served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He returned home and worked in the Layout Production Department of Bethlehem Steel for 29 years until retiring.

He was an active member of Saint John's Ev. Lutheran Church Allentown, where he was a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years, and served on many committees. James was a Life Member of the Fullerton Fire Company #1.

He is survived by son Kevin M. Kurtz with his wife Cynthia of Whitehall; granddaughter Caitlynn; predeceased by 2 brothers and a sister.

Services will be 11:00 am Tuesday September 23, 2025 in the Gilbert Funeral Home 444 Pershing Boulevard Whitehall, Pennsylvania 18052, where his viewing will begin at 10:00 am.

Interment with Military Honors will follow in Cedar Hill Memorial Park Allentown.
