James Louis Johnson, affectionately known as Boobie, The Good Son and A Wise Man, was born on November 6, 1968 in Gary, Indiana to Donna Dixon and Lucious James Johnson, departed this earthly life, July 30, 2024. His years were filled with love and laughter surrounded by family and friends. He attended Theodore Roosevelt High School, Gary, IN, class of 1986. He then enlisted in the U.S. military, Marine Corps branch, USMC, serving 7-8 years as the Maintenance Management Specialist. During his time in the USMC, James traveled abroad, receiving numerous decorations including The Certificate of Commendation, Arctic Services Ribbon, 1st Award, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Rifle Expert Badge, 5th Award, Meritorious Mast, 2nd Award, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Letter of Appreciation, 2nd Award, Good Conduct Medal, 1st Award, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, 1st Award and last but not least, the Kuwait Liberation Medal. His commitment to service was his passion and well respected. Thank you for your awesome service James; job well done. SALUTE!!

Anyone who knew James (Boobie) witnessed his undeniable loyalty and love for life and his family. He enjoyed cooking, playing pool (all time favorite), working on projects around the house, and spending time and sharing life lessons to those whose attention he captured as the wise man he was. His departure is mourned by his personal village recognizing in him the bold strength and steady reassuring presence. He was a man anchored by is values and living his life with purpose. He leaves a lasting impression on those that have crossed his path even for a brief period of time. As we honor his memory, we reflect on a journey well trotted, a legacy of love, respect, and integrity that will forever resonate in the hearts he touched. May he be at peace and his loving soul continue to guide us in moment of quiet relection.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lucious James Johnson and leaves to cherish his memory, mother, Donna Dixon, wife, Hollanda McDowell (Johnson), sisters, TyShelle Johnson, Phaedra Cooke, and Teneia Thomas, sons, James Johnson and James Johnson, Jr., and daughter, Jamese Johnson, daughters-in-law/daughters, Shaniqkia, Terri, and Briana and a host of nieces, nephews, and great ones, grandchildren, and a vast number of relatives and friends. All Services Friday August 9, 2024 Wake 2:30p.m. Funeral 3:30p.m. at Powell Coleman Funeral Home 3200 W. 15th Ave Gary, In.

I just heard of the passing of Boobie and I am extremely heartbroken .my heart goes out to entire Jonhson family. Well Boobie I will surely miss you but we will see other again
