Green Bay - James Vincent Lacey, 73, of Green Bay passed away in comfort amid the presence of family on December 25, 2017, at Providence St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula, Montana.
Family and friends may visit at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Dr, Green Bay, on TODAY, Saturday, January 6, from 9:00am until 10:15am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating and Father Tim Shillcox, O.Praem concelebrating. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.

I miss Mucka so much. I have been reading about him just to hear about him again. I loved him so much and I am very sad. I am just glad that we could all get through this together, Grandma Karen!

Karen and Family, Joan just learned about Jim's passing this evening and we were saddened, but will never forget how Dr. Lacey took care of me when P&G nurses referred me to him for anemia, but that led us to bring Joan's Mom, Helen Danahy, to him when she came to live with us. She loved him, and we knew she was in good hands for many years while we were in Green Bay. God Bless you all, he will be missed, and we will keep you in our prayers.

I worked with Jim Lacey at Beaumont Clinic, and then Prevea Clinic for 17 years. Jim was smart ... really smart! Jim was the benchmark by which all internist who worked with him gaged their own skills and work ethic. The loss of Jim is the loss of the Golden Era of medicine, which grew from a cottage industry, when physicians learned their craft based on careful history taking, physical examination, making a throughout differential diagnosis and reliance on intelligence. I learned a lot from Jim. Not only was Jim smart, but his patients loved him because they knew he cared for them in a personal way. Whenever he spoke, he was laconic, but to the point. Jims death was a shock to me, and has forced me to contemplate my own life, and wonder if I have made as much of an impression and left as much of a legacy as he.

I was sorry to read of Dr. Laceys illness and passing. I was referred to Dr. Lacey for a brief time some years ago, when I was a new mother. He impressed me as a learned and wise practitioner and a kind person, and I have always remembered his care. My sincere condolences to his loved ones.

I had the pleasure in working at Bellin Hospital on 2 South and other departments over the 20 years I knew Dr Lacey
He was also my personal physician for years
I enjoyed reading in the obituary when you refer to his quick step, I can picture that now, and I always remember his quick wit and his cunning laugh
He was amazing and compassionate doctor and we are all so lucky to have known him

So sorry you have lost Jim, one of everyone's favorite guys among the docs, after what must have been very difficult times with his illnesses Karen. Grieving is difficult in other ways, and no fun- you have my deep sympathy.
Our families shared many good times together and I know how rightfully proud he was of you and your kids. They will carry on with good memories.
