Jim Lamprow 7/13/07

I was born in Newark in 1943 and by the time I turned ten my uncle started taking me to the Old Bridge races every friday night. Oh! how I loved to go! It was better then mom's apple pie.

My uncle was one of the drivers and he would put me in the trunk of the tow car to sneek me into the pits, it was really funny that as a kid I wasn't allowed in the pits, but once I was in nobody ever said anything to me, even when I sat on the fence between the pit and the track. I can still smell the alcohol and picture the blue flames coming out of the gutted muffler shells that were mounted to the running boards as the drivers backed off in turns 3 & 4.

I remember one year my uncle and a friend built two Ford coach's that were blue and white, the numbers were 07 & 70. The first race of the season they raced they both were in an accident in the first turn of the first lap of the first race. That was the end of the #70 car, but the 07 returned again and again. The driver was Ed Schaefer who passed away in February 2006 at the age of 72.

There's a few cars I remember, like the XL & XL1, I remember one of the first slant six engines that came to the track and ran away with the winnings, can't remember the number though. There was also a green coupe #13 and I think the driver's name was Lenny Gould, can't be sure.

All I can say now is, Thanks for the Memories "OLD Bridge" & My uncle Ed.

Hi Brother,
I wish you could know how much I loved my big brother 13 years ago you left me and I have never felt more vulnerable because my protector was gone. I always looked up to you and even when you teased me I was mad but ok because I loved you. Only you and I know what we shared the good and the bad times growing up. You always tried to protect me. You are the kind of person everyone wants to know, spend time with, get advice from, be a friend of, share thoughts with. Let them want, because I had you for all of that and much, much more, you are my brother and my HERO.
Love always, until we meet again, your little sister,
Lynn

Hi Jim,
I believe that you, mom, grandma are with God and he lets you see your loved ones left behind. I believe that at times your spirit walks with us, guiding, protecting and being around when we really need help. Although I cannot see you or feel you, I know when your spirit is near. I pray for all of us every night. I know you are ok, but I still ask our Lord to take good care of you. To me you are more special and loved, and always my Hero, until we meet again my thoughts and prayers, Love you, your sister ♥

Five years have passed and I miss you no less, I love you more, and not a day passes without thoughts of you my Hero

My Brother...
As kids we lived together, until you joined the Navy.
You teased me,we laughed, I cried because I missed you so.
Our love we may not have shown
But held inside.
We shared our dreams, and secrets too.
The memories we shared, is what holds me together now.
The love we held in our hearts, remains strong today,
and will never falter.
You are my brother not by choice, but by birth.
Had I been given a choice, I know I would have chosen you.
You are my Hero, the best on earth, and now in Heaven....
I love you,Llm.J
