EULOGY

Jim was born March 24,1950 in Riverview Hospital on the West side of St. Paul to Richard Lange and Marilyn Wynacht. Jim has two younger brothers, Mike and Craig and a younger sister, Barb. Jim told of the happy times he had playing with neighborhood kids. He attended Sibley High School where he excelled in track, football and played/coached Community hockey.

Jim loved music. At the age of 10, his maternal grandparents purchased his first guitar and took him to South St. Paul each week for lessons.

Jim and Joanie met at the St. Paul College where Jim studied cabinet making. His friend, Joe had asked Joanie to the 1968 Turkey Trot Thanksgiving Dance. It was decided that Joanie would bring her friend Karen and Joe would bring his friend Jim …and they would have a blind date. After that dance, Jim started dating Joanie. Their first date was at Tunnuci's in Newport, and Tunnuci's will be catering the celebration lunch today. They became engaged in April of 1969 and married in June of 1970. They added to their family when Jodi Marie was born in August of 1972 and Daniel James in October of 1975

Jim worked in the bindery and shipping areas of the former West Publishing for 36 years. Jim loved life, his family and friends, and loved being out in Nature…..especially fishing.

Jim and Joanie were more interested in acquiring experiences instead of material things. In the early marriage years their vehicle was usually a hand-me down or purchased off the car lot. They were content in their little bungalow in Lauderdale for 35 years. They were able to take several memorable trips including several cruises (and in 2010 a cruise with Joan's siblings) and trips around the Country with their "groupie" friends to follow the Native American bands Brule' and Arvel Bird.

Jim served as a money counter and usher and was in the choir at Peace Lutheran. He loved helping with the Christmas in August project which helps Lauderdale neighbors with various home projects, but in recent years hasn't felt well enough to participate.

In January 2007, we moved into Applewood Pointe of New Brighton. In the early years of the Co-op, Jim was chairman of the Property Committee. and assisted in getting a nightly security check system in place.

We will remember your smile Jim and how you were always willing to listen to friends who had troubles and comfort them with one of your hugs.

We know you are already busy working in the Spirit World. Farewell until we all meet again.

Jim was a good friend and always had a smile on his face when I saw him. I could always expect a big kiss and a hug from Jim. He was warm and friendly and I'm very sorry that I didn't have a chance to see him again before his passing. My condolences to his wife Joanie and his family. He will be missed.

RIP my dear husband of 47 years. I really found out the true meaning of love during the past five months. Our strong love got us through the years where we didn't like each other. Love is a commitment to care for each other when times get tough. I had several surgeries in our early marriage and you took care of me. The last five years I took care of you. I was glad I could take care of you. After you started tipping over backwards in your walker, I could no longer take care of you. On Thursday, August 3, you had to be admitted to Saint Therese Hospice at St. Odilia. They took excellent care of you until you passed into the next life on Tuesday, August 8. I will miss your hand always resting on my shoulder. I feel blessed that you are out-of-pain.
Rest well my husband.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Jim was so special to many folks. There are so many memories of times we spent together as families growing up...Sugar Lake (swimming, fishing, hunting, raking, bonfires), Saturday nights at each others houses (eating, watching Andy Williams, movies, Jimmy playing guitar), extended family special events.I truly loved how Jim called me "Giggles" and would phone the folks on every Christmas Eve. Our hearts are saddened, but we treasure these times we had together. Our Love To You All.

Dearest Jimmy, I can tell you now that a day will not pass that I won't think of you. All the memories we have are amazing. From a young age when you would protect me from Mikey (lol), to the time you took me with to Wi to work on someone's something I don't remember what because just being with you is all I needed to remember. I so loved hanging with you. You are just the nicest big brother any one could have though I'm lucky to have two. I love you and will miss you terribly until we can meet again. ❤

My two wonderful friends!

Jimmie -

I will always cherish the friendship we had and never forget all the fun road trips and great memories we made! You and Joanie added so much more to my life that I am very grateful for. There is so much I'll miss about you - the phone calls, Brule concerts, Treasure Island, your big hugs and just laughing with each other. But, what I'll miss the most is knowing you were always here caring about me and that you loved me very much. That's a wonderful gift to have! I love you so much and miss you already!

"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal - Love leaves a memory no one can steal" (author unknown)

Rest in peace my wonderful friend - I will see you again!
