James Lanteigne Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 19, 2022.
Lanteigne, James "Jimmy" Thomas TROY Jimmy Lanteigne, 62 of Troy, passed away on January 16, 2022, at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 19, 1959, in Troy to the late Lonny and Beverly (Franklin) Lanteigne. Jimmy was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy as a regular E3. He completed his term of service on the USS Detroit where he learned his craft as a cook and became a Shellback. He is credited with making President Reagan's birthday cake and winning the coveted chili cook-off for the ships afloat. He was an exceptional heavy-equipment operator and worked with his dad, Lonny, to manage L & L Blacktop. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Lansingburgh where he met lifelong friends. He served on the board, helped to remodel the club, assisted with club events, most notably the annual Memorial Day parade, enjoyed cooking the Friday night meals, and playing in the dart league. Jimmy is survived by his daughters, Maranda (Jessica) Lanteigne, Alicia (Karl) Watson, and Tiffany (Jake) Fredericks; and his sister Kim (Kevin) Hedley. He was the beloved grandfather of Sabastian Lanteigne, Nathan Brown, Brayden and Donovan Watson, and Maxwell and Benjamin Fredericks. He leaves behind his nephews, Joe and Alex Hedley; as well as his good friends, Patty, Kyle, Joyce, Marcel, Dave, Dino, Paulie, and PJ. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of The Community Hospice for their excellent care and support. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville with full military honors. Friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Frank P. McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 870 Second Ave. (124th and 125th Streets), Lansingburgh. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Veterans of Lansingburgh or The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
