James Lee Foley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 16, 2024.
Jim Foley passed away on Friday, March 8, at ten fifty-six in the morning with his wife of 42 years and his four children by his bedside.

James Lee Foley was born in Rock Island, Illinois, on October 1, 1935, to parents Joseph and Zelma Foley. He was 88 years old.

Fondly referred to by his close friends as "The Babe", Jim, was a Volusia County icon. In 1974, he opened Foley and Associates Construction Company, Inc. Within a few short years, Foley was building projects at NASA, Disney World, the Daytona Speedway, The Orlando Arena, commercial office complexes throughout the state, Country Clubs and dozens of condominiums up and down the coast from Amelia Island to Vero Beach, FL. Wherever you look you see the hand of Jim Foley.

Jim Foley was also well-known in business circles. He was on the boards of several area banks and a contributor to many local causes and organizations. He served as Director of the Economic Development Council, and a Daytona Beach Shores Planning and Zoning Board member.

When Jim retired, he and his wife, Connie, relocated to North Carolina. They recently moved to St. Augustine to be closer to his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Connie, his son Craig Foley, his daughters Janice Hurst (Scott), Chrissy Smedley (Steve), and Kim Martin-Fisher (Jan). He leaves behind seven grandchildren Jennifer Faulkner (Hunter), Geoffrey Martin (Tiffany), Brittney Roberts, Cheyne Hurst, Erin Noles, Meagan Foley, and Summer Foley, eight great-grandchildren, (Taylor, Maddie, Parker, Asher, Brody, Paisley, Reese, and Makayla).

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Zelma Foley, and his granddaughter, Jaimie Foley.

A celebration of life will be held at Oceanside Country Club 75 N. Halifax Dr., Ormond Beach, FL 32176 on March 19, 2024 from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

I am just seeing this because I was looking to find Mr. Foley and connect with him to let him know about my Dad's passing and I am so very sad. This wonderful man loved my Dad (Audin "Bim" Anderson) who we just funeralized last weekend 6/7/2025. I was reaching out in hopes of connecting, and I saw this. My heart hurts and is really sad to learn that Mr. Foley has taken flight to be with the Lord. I really hope he and my Dad are laughing and catching up on old times, as he was the one who was there to make sure my Dad always had work, he encouraged my Dad to take and complete the Master Carpentry course at Daytona Beach College and get his certificate and he was the one who sat at the table with us and gave my Dad money to take he and me out for a nice dinner (because my Day missed the certificate ceremony dinner, because he came all the way back to Seville to get me to attend the ceremony with him) when we were late for the ceremony. He was also the man who understood, mentored, and got my Dad through a very difficult divorce. I am so sad I was not there the celebrate his life, but for over 40 years I have remembered this man. I pray for your hearts.
