James Lohmann, passed away on September 18, 2025, in Sarasota. He was 61 years old.

Born on April 2, 1964, in Sarasota, James spent his younger years as a resident of Siesta Key and as a member of the Church of Redeemer and the Sarasota Boys Choir. He then went to Lenoir-Rhyne College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, which laid the foundation for a life of service and caring for others.

James was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Nurse Corps. His military career was on board ships and in hospitals in foreign countries. He retired from active duty in 1995. He then worked as a nurse in local health care and traveled with medical missions groups to underserved countries such as Haiti and Africa. He was also active in recovery and a supportive 12 step program member and sponsor.

James is lovingly remembered by his sister Susan Byron and his brother Ernest R. Lohmann III, both of Sarasota. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest R. Lohmann Jr., and his mother, Vivian C. Lohmann.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 18, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM at First Brethren Church of Sarasota reception hall 150 N Shade Ave in Sarasota. In lieu of flowers, those interested may make a donation to a charity of their choice.
