James Edwin Macfarlan

James E. Macfarlan, a fifth generation San Franciscan whose paternal family goes back to the Gold Rush, was born in St. Mary's Hospital San Francisco, Nov. 8, 1940. He is the loving husband of Lynn A. Macfarlan and proud father of Shannon Macfarlan and Scott Macfarlan of San Francisco. Jim attended St. Joseph's Grammar School, St. Ignatius High School, City College of San Francisco and

S.F. State. His Civil Engineering career with the City of San Francisco included the Water Dept., Public Works, and the Port. He also worked for the SF Redevelopment Agency and the US Coast Guard Training Center, Petaluma. He proudly served in the US Army Reserves. He was a long-time member of Novato Sunrise Rotary Club, loved traveling, skiing, participating in Church activities, Cursillo, Meals on Wheels and was a devoted 49er's and Giants fan with fond memories of Seals Stadium, Kezar and finally Candlestick and AT&T. He moved to Sonoma in 1997 from Novato after his retirement. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Jim's life will held on Nov. 8,2024 at All Saint's Lutheran Church in Novato, CA from 2:30 - 4:00.
