James Joseph Mastor

James "Jim" Joseph Mastor, age 90, of Dallas, Texas, passed peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, after a full life. Jim was born in Bemidji, MN, on February 22, 1928, the youngest of three sons born to the late Philip M. Mastor and Agnes Sekula Mastor. He had a strict upbringing, which he passed along to his children, making them strong and independent. He was an Air Force veteran of post WWII occupational forces in Germany and a popular past Commander of VFW #8627 in Richardson, Texas. He was a successful sales manager for Ecolab, Inc. and retired after forty years of service. Jim's strong work ethic is reflected in his commitment to ensure all four children received college educations without burden of student debt. He was supportive of any field of work they chose. Jim worked hard and played hard, and in his younger years, enjoyed a cold beer with family and friends. He loved God, his country, driving fast on the open road and a good joke. Family dinners were important to him and time to laugh: "if you don't eat your dinner, it will be here in the morning" and, when one of the kids said they didn't want any more dinner. "you're not getting any more – you're eating what you've got!". Jim was generous with all who knew him and was fiercely protective of his loved ones. Without hesitation, he made unreserved financial sacrifices for his children into adulthood, including times of serious illness when they lacked health insurance. Jim was a proud father to surviving daughter Janny Bailey and sons Thomas John Mastor and his wife Erin, Philip Michael Mastor and Stephen James Mastor and his wife Jo Anne, all of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and Jeanne Louise Mastor as mother to their children.
