Thanksgiving 2010
Barbara and Jim Tipton
April 5, 2011
I am not related to Jim McClung; however I regard Shirley and Jim as family. My daughter, Sharon, is married to Josh McClung. I was apprehensive before meeting Shirley and Jim for the first time, because I was told that Jim does not talk to everyone. As luck would have it, both Shirley and Jim quickly warmed up to us igniting the spark of a great friendship.
We visited the McClungs in San Rafael, and Jim drove us all over San Francisco proudly showing us the sites. Jim even took us to his favorite coffee house – an act of accepting us into his life.
He liked to talk about professional football, a sport that I have followed since my childhood – my late father having been an ardent N.Y. Giants fan. I enjoyed hearing about Jim’s ealy days in Nebraska.
I will miss his smile and kind-hearted nature. Jim lives on in his beautiful, kind, talented and personable children Josh and Lisa. I am thankful that Jim and an opportunity to meet and hold the granddaughter that we share – Taylor Lyn McClung.
I am fortunate to have spent both Thanksgiving and Christmas 2010 with Shirley and Jim. During the Thanksgiving holiday, Jim shared both his corned beef and his famous chili recipe with me. He knew that I enjoyed cooking. I was honored by the gift of those recipes.

Shirley, Lisa, Jeannine & the entire McClung family, We are very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was a wonderful man, full of life, great stories, and love for his family. We always looked forward to his visits here at our dental office, and considered him a very big part of our extended dental family. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
