James McGlothlin

SWORDS CREEK, Va. – James Manuel McGlothlin, 74, passed away Monday, April 7, 2008, in a Richlands, Va., hospital.
He was born Sept. 7, 1933, in Tazewell County, Va., and was the son of the late Joe and Elsie Palmer McGlothlin, both former Tazewell County, Va., natives. He was a retired coal miner and former employee of S&S Corp. He was also the owner and operator of McGlothlin's Garage on Swords Creek. He was a lifelong resident of the Raven and Swords Creek areas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ashley Nicole McGlothlin.
Survivors are his loving wife, Audrey G. McGlothlin; son, Teddy Wayne McGlothlin and wife Julia of Swords Creek; brothers, the Rev. Grady McGlothlin of Doran, Va., and Rev. Charlie McGlothlin and wife Connie of Doran; grandchildren, Kris McGlothlin of Dover, Del., and Ryan McGlothlin of Roanoke, Va.; special great-niece, Lindsey McGlothlin of Swords Creek; and many nieces, nephews and friends also survive and mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Manuel McGlothlin will be conducted Thursday, April 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Va., with the Rev. Les Ritchie officiating. Interment will follow in the McGlothlin Family Cemetery on Road Ridge near Raven, Va. Pallbearers will be relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands from 6 until 9 p.m. Wednesday evening.
