Judge James Russell McGregor Sr., of Edgewood, died peacefully Tuesday, May 25, 2010, surrounded by family and friends. He was the beloved husband of the Honorable Ruth Woodside Pickering McGregor; loving father of Gretchen Venkatesh and her husband, Kishnan, of India and Pecos, N.M., J. Russell McGregor Jr. and his wife, Jacqui Kearney, of Rector, Michelle McGregor Smith and her husband, Eric, of Rector, Mark McGregor, of San Francisco, Calif., Katherine Ulrich, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Kelly Pickering and her husband, Stephen, of Frenchtown, N.J., and Kirk Pickering and his wife, Susie, of Nashville, Tenn.; dear grandfather of Samantha, James III, Morgan, Storey and Mira; and brother of Jean Martinsen, Jack McGregor and Janice Wren. The Honorable Judge is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends. Friends received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME INC., 7441 Washington St., Swissvale. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Buleah Presbyterian Church, Churchill. The family requests memorial contributions in the judge's memory to the Suzanne Hill Altano Endowment for Lung Cancer Research, University of Pittsburgh, Cancer Institute Development Department, 5150 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15232.
