James McPike Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 15, 2024.
James Patrick (Pat) McPike was born in Caney, Kansas. At a young age he moved with his family to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where his father was employed by the Cities Service Oil Company.

Pat attended school in Bartlesville and graduated from College High School in 1970. For many years, he owned and operated Bartlesville's Big M Plumbing. Later moving to Tulsa, he owned two other plumbing businesses.

During his time in Tulsa, Pat became interested in the art of glass work and became skilled in creating all forms of glass art including some award-winning hand-crafted marbles and stained-glass windows. He also became interested in creating and repairing stained glass. During this point in his life, he was involved in the restoration of the historic stained-glass windows in downtown Oklahoma City, which was devastated by the April 19, 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing.

Pat lived the last 20 years of his life in a small lakeside community near Strang, Oklahoma. During those years, he developed a community of neighbors and friends who looked out for him and often included Pat in their family celebrations and gatherings.

Over his lifetime Pat enjoyed many hobbies. Motorcycle riding, bowling, scuba diving, and boating were all on his list. But his lifelong passion for fishing reigned supreme. It was nearly impossible to have a conversation that didn't include some tale about one of his many fishing expeditions.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, James Cline McPike and Frances Margaret Taylor and his wife Debra Joy McPike. He is survived by a daughter Andrea (McPike) Huffstutler, four grandchildren, Mason Angle, Cole Huffstutler, Eli Huffstutler, and Emery Huffstutler of Odessa, Texas. He is also survived by a twin sister Jane Ann (McPike) Roden, and sisters Gail Elizabeth McPike, and Robin Frances (McPike) Ford. He also has cousins by the dozens, an endless supply of loving nieces and nephews, and a legend of friends.

He is missed by family and friends and will be lovingly remembered forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Greenbrier Free Will Baptist Church in Adair, OK at 2:00 on Saturday May 25th, 2024.

Our cousin Pat was always one of the sweetest, kindest souls! He always had a great story to share with those of us who were the younger cousins about our parents and aunts and uncles and older cousins! He will be greatly missed by all who knew him!
