James Melcher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 3 to Mar. 4, 2021.
James A. Melcher
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James A. Melcher, age 71, of Lake Worth, FL., formerly of Bloomington and Joliet, IL. on February 26, 2021.
He is survived by his wife Judy (nee Owens) his heart and soul of 48 years; his two children, son Bryan and daughter Shelly, his pride and joy.
Jim was the eldest of eight children, leaving brothers Ray (Sue) of Monroe NJ, Bob (Bonnie) of Springfield, MA, Bill (Rhonda) of Durant, OK, and sistersSharon (Craig) Woodworth of McHenry, IL, Terrie (the late John) Murphy, Kathy (the late John) Miller and Marianne Melcher (fiancée John Martin) all of New Lenox, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was born in Ashland, Ohio on June 25th, 1949. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur J. and Dorothy Hayes Melcher of Joliet.
He graduated from Joliet Catholic High School and Illinois State University in Normal, IL. He was a retired real estate investor at Baker Enterprises. His enjoyments and passions included live music and cheering his favorite sports teams (Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Chicago Bears, and the Chicago Cubs) while surrounded by his closest family and friends. His enthusiasm over classic cars and his one-of-a-kind brain, full of useless knowledge, brought fulfillment and joy to his everyday life.
There will be a private memorial for immediate family and a celebration of life will be forthcoming. Arrangements by All County Funeral Home & Crematory, Lake Worth, Florida.
He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to Trustbridge Hospice Home Care of 5300 East Avenue West Palm Beach, Florida 33407 (trustbridge.com).

I only knew the Melcher family when they were neighbors to my mom. They were probably the sweetest family I have ever met. Jim was the oldest of the eight children, believe. Really sweet kids as were the parents. I am so sorry for the loss of your brother Jimmy.

To Judy, your children & the Melcher Family, I offer you our condolences from myself & my family. Jim was a lifetime friend. We were connected thru grade school, high school, the high school band ~ our fathers knew each other as young boys. State Farm & Art's Agency has protected me since the '70's & of course you are aware of the connection w/ Terrie, Murff & our families & friends. Only had the opportunity to see Jim, infrequently, as an adult. That was generally thru Murfff & Terrie 's parties. Here's one for you. Jim, myself & few others roamed the streets of New York City as teenagers in high school in the '60's, w/out adult supervision!! Those adventures will remain "locked in the vault"!! I could go on... Suffice it to say, "he was a character of the first degree, never a dull moment when Jim was around"!! Got to remember the goood stuff! "Our prayers moving forward to you all! John
