He was an avid golfer and served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-59
ST. CHARLES - James Miller, 69, died Saturday, July 7, 2007, at his home.
He was born Aug. 11, 1937, in Cherry Valley, Ark.
Jim was an avid golfer at Pottawatomie Park, where he entered many tournaments, even winning a few. He also had two hole-in-ones at Pottawatomie.
In 1960 he started working at Western Electric, which turned into AT&T, retiring in 1990. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959 and received an honorable discharge.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, whom he married Jan. 16, 1965; two sisters, Peggy (Joe) Lunati of Germantown, Tenn., and Teresa (Chuck) Larson of Rice Lake, Wis.; a brother, John (Carol) Miller of Mountain Home, Ark.; an aunt, Thelma (Tom) Mitchell of Wynne, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Louise Miller, a sister, Barbara Miller; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until the 7 p.m. memorial service Tuesday, July 10, at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 Main St., St. Charles. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
