James Mitchell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 21, 2025.
James Stanley Mitchell III, 62, passed away on August 11, 2025, in Stockbridge, Georgia. Born on July 9, 1963, in Camden, New Jersey, Jim lived a life marked by dedication to his profession, a passion for classic cars and aviation, and a deep appreciation for animals and photography.

Jim graduated from Eastern High School and went on to build a distinguished career in the global logistics industry. With specialized training in TSA compliance and ITAR/EAR regulations, he became a respected figure in international shipping and air export. From 1995 to 2016, he served as Air Export Manager at BDP International. In 2017, he joined Morrison Express, where he continued to work until his passing. Over the course of three decades, Jim earned a reputation as an expert in his field-so much so that he proudly referred to himself as an "Air Export Guru." His colleagues knew him not only for his technical knowledge but also for his willingness to mentor others and share his experience generously.

Despite facing ongoing health challenges later in life, Jim remained committed to his work and continued contributing meaningfully to the industry he loved. His perseverance and professionalism left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him.

Outside of work, Jim was a classic car enthusiast who owned several vintage vehicles throughout his life. He had an eye for design and detail that extended into his love of amateur photography. He also enjoyed traveling-often combining these interests by capturing images of the places he visited and the machines that fascinated him. A lifelong admirer of aircraft, Jim found joy in all things aviation-related.

Jim had a compassionate heart for animals and adopted cats from the Henry County animal shelter, offering them a loving home.

He is survived by his brother Steven Mitchell Sr., sister-in-law Sonia Mitchell, nephew Steven Mitchell Jr., and niece Alyssa Glass. He was preceded in death by his father James Stanley Mitchell Jr., mother Elva Jane Malatesta, and brother John Michael Mitchell.

Services are private, and a memorial celebration of his life and career will be planned soon.

Jim's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched-both professionally and personally. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Henry County Animal shelter or Goodwill.
