Peacefully at North Hastings Health Care Bancroft Hospital on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Shirley Stephenson. Loved father of Kelly Monument (John Snable) of Mississauga, Andrea (Ken) Kotyk of Calgary, Michael Monument of Calgary, Christopher (Shana) Stephenson of Beaverton, Jeff (Tina) Stephenson of Bolsover and Jon (Val) Stephenson of Orillia. Grandfather of Melissa, Amy, Miranda, Sofiya, Mysha, Cooper, Sydney, Fletcher, Savannah and Tyler. Son of the late George Monument and Myrtle (Robinson) Monument. Brother of Robert (Bette) Monument and Susan (Bob) Sanders. Jim was an avid camper who loved outdoor adventures, hiking and trips in the RoadTrek. He had a special love of gathering with family and "jamming" with friends. The family would like to send a special thank you to the paramedics, hospital staff at Bancroft hospital and friends and family that have been very supportive at this time. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place later in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to M.G. Jim was best man at our wedding in Calgary. Michael has many fond memories of working with Jim at Calgary health services. We also met up with him while he lived in Victoria. He always had a bit of a mischievous smile on his face, a great sense of humor, and a story to tell. Sadly we just learned of his passing today. We send our sincere condolences to all who loved him. Gayla and Michael, Victoria, BC.
