James Natale Obituary

Published by The Saratogian from Dec. 1 to Dec. 2, 2011.
SARATOGA SPRINGS - James "Jingles" Michael Natale Jr. passed away suddenly Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011.
He was 63.
Born Sept. 26, 1948, in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late James J. and Rosa Gagne Natale.
A member of the graduating class of 1967 at St. Peter's Academy, he was an outstanding football player and was later inducted into the St. Peter's Academy Hall of Fame.
A retired chef, cooking was one of his many passions and being a chef was one of his proudest accomplishments.
"Jingles" was loved by all who met him and he touched many lives with his infectious smile and charm. When "Jingles" met someone for the first time, he would welcome them into his heart and they would feel as though they just made a lifelong friend. He would do anything to help his friends in any way he could.
He loved sports, especially golf, and enjoyed sharing these talents with his two daughters, and later in his life, with his three grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply. When asked by his many friends how his grandchildren were, there was an instant glow about him.
"Jingles" is survived by his two daughters, Julie Natale-Dwyer (Tom) and Maria Natale; three grandchildren, Morgan, Samuel and Lucy Dwyer; three sisters, Mary-Louise (Michael) Coleman, Teresa (David) Periman and Rose (Rich) Mercier; one brother, Anthony Natale; and several nieces and nephews. Survivors also include his former wife and mother of his two children, Nancy (John) Mahar and their son, Loren Mahar; as well as his longtime partner, Carolyna Godlewski; his lifelong friend, Ridge Quoi; and many other friends who filled his life with love and joy.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 N. Broadway, 584-5373. The Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia will preside.
There will be no calling hours.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jim. First Jimmy Whitford and now now Jingles. Two very good friends that will be missed by so many. Jingles was a mentor, a sage and most importantly a friend to me. He always treated me as an equal and helped me grow up during my adolecent years. I learned a lot from Jim about what life was all about and what was important in it. Even though I moved away from Saratoga many years ago, whenever I ran into Jingles he always had a great smile, a little joke and a warm memory to greet me. It always made me feel as though we saw each other every day for the past 30+ years.
I will miss that smile. Be at peace my good friend.

My deepest sympathy on the passing of Jingles. What an awesome guy - what a great smile and attitude - Always a pleasure - Always a gentleman - Your family was blessed to have you as were all of us. I'm sure the "other side" just got alot more lively and happy with you there. You will be missed my friend...

It seems like yesterday we were kids and then before you knew it we were grandparents meeting at the annual Division Steet School grandparents day,(which you never missed). Boy you loved your grandkids !!!
You are still so young, and one would say (like with your Mom and Dad) "You were taken before your time," but the Good Lord had you in his calling.
I will miss your bright smile at the luncheons and think about you when I see those grandkids. God Bless!

I want to express my sincere sorrow to the entire family of my friend Jingles. I have known Jimmy all my life and in fact I grew up in the home where he was born. Although we haven't seen each other very often over these years we were very lucky to be together in August with Johnny, and Denny from the old "NEIGHBORHOOD"! It was a wonderful evening full of laughing 'til it hurt, eating, playing pool and telling old stories like they just happened yesterday. When I heard the news last week of Jingles' passing, I was saddened beyond belief and then this story popped into my mind. With the deaths of so many of our classmates, I think it is appropriate and I hope that Julie and Maria, especially, will appreciate this tale: “I stood watching as the little ship sailed out to sea. The setting sun tinted its white sails
with a golden light. And, as it disappeared from view, a voice at my side whispered, “Jimmy
is gone”. But, the sea was a narrow one, and on the furthest shore, a little band of friends
had gathered to watch in happy expectation. Suddenly, they caught sight of the tiny sail.
And, at the very moment when my companion had whispered, “Jimmy is gone”, a glad shout
went up in joyous welcome with the words, “yes, here he comes!””
May he Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory. I will miss his, but will always have his memories in my heart!
Sincerely,
Cathy

There are 38 entries of condolences and memories of Jimmy here, and dozen's more on face book, They was an overflow out into the streets on North Broadway for his service, people were saying in disbelief, "I cant believe he is gone" . There are a lot of cliches about people when they pass, as, he was a great guy, he was one of a kind, he was unique, there will never be another,. etc, etc. However, where it pertain's to Jimmy Natale, they are all so true. It is going to take a while for a lot of people to get over this (especially his daughter)Whom my heart goes out to. . I feel very fortunate to have met him in my lifetime. And we all could only dream, that when its our time, we would be remembered like he was. Oh well, as Jimmy would say Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on. Good Bye Jimmy...

For the past week the sky didn't snow and the sun didn't shine. But we all know now that when spring is upon us we will all plant tomatoes and think dearly of you.
Never has there been a "Celebration of
Life" that any of us have been a part of like yours, my friend. We all walked away smiling, as you would have wanted us to do.
Today was "One of those Nights" and I think we all had a "Peaceful
Easy Feeling" as we gathered in your name and honor of your friendship.
You and I were seven years old when we first started competing as athletes,
racing around the block back in the "neighborhood".
Back then we all had nicknames and I have always cherished the fact that you have always called me by that name throughout our life.
Be truly honored the way your life was celebrated today, and the way your family will remember you always.
Be truly honored, my friend, for the way you lived your life that made us all love you so much.
God, you made me laugh so much Jingles... I will miss you so much.

Your friend,
Johnnie "Ace" Parker
