James Joseph O'Brien Jr

James "Jim" "Jay" Joseph O'Brien, Jr. of Cape Coral, FL passed away on May 22, 2016 at 65 years of age. He was born on March 4, 1951 in Staten Island, New York. In his early career, he owned and operated Color Systems Painting. More recently he found his passion as a Residence Recovery Administrator with Nextep Counseling and Recovery Residences. He lived his life in service to all seeking recovery or who had lost hope through his work at Nextep, as well as volunteer work at Harry Chapin Food Bank, Christian Mission trips to impoverished countries, and regularly speaking to addiction recovery groups. Jim will be dearly missed by his parents, James and Helen O'Brien of Pocono Lake, PA; daughter, Lisa Cornish (Mother Birgit Krambach); granddaughter, Olivia Cornish; sisters, Erin O'Brien and Olga Murray; and niece, Georgia Murray; and loving companion, Lisa Frustochi. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Laurie. A Gathering of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 5PM to 7PM at the Fuller Metz Funeral Chapel on Del Prado Blvd. South in Cape Coral. Attendees are invited to bring a donation of canned food which will be given to a food bank in Jim's memory.
