ELKHART - James L. "Jim" Paczkowski, 73, of Elkhart, IN, passed away at Goshen General Hospital on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Jim was born June 17, 1936 in South Bend, IN, to the late Clem and Irene (Jozwiak) Paczkowski. On September 15, 1956, Jim was united in marriage to Ms. Diane Updike in the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mishawaka. His wife Diane survives, along with their children; Vikki (Dennis) Jensen of Cromwell, IN, Linda (Steve) Snyder of Elkhart, Don (Beth Ann) Paczkowski of Mishawaka Jerry (Lisa) Paczkowski of Brownsburg, IN, Jackie (Patrick) Collins of Mishawaka, and his brother, Devon (Lorraine) Paczkowski of Mishawaka. Jim is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Allie Blackston, Krystal, Rachelle, and Chris Snyder, Jennifer (Jeff) Fisher, Brandon Paczkowski, Breanne Paczkowski, Andrea and Dana Polman, Hannah Paczkowski, Lucy Paczkowski, and Sean and Andrew Collins. Jim is also survived by three great granddaughters, Taylor Blackston, Jurney Fisher, and Alexis Grant. Friends may gather 2 hours prior to the 1:00 pm Memorial Service on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Jim was employed by and was the owner of Williams Paint Stores in the area for 24 years. He went on to receive his Associates Degree as a machinist. He was then employed by Lock Joint Tube for 26 years until his retirement in 2002. Jim was an avid sports fan, following the Chicago White Sox, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and the Indianapolis Colts. In his memory, contributions may be given to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, or the American Cancer Society.

The Paczkowski Family...I am deeply saddened with the loss of Jim, as I look at the photo in the paper it looks like the Jim I remember...always smiling and laughing. It is sad when I see a former classmates’ parent pass away, it is really an indescribable feeling.
