I knew Jim from the early 1960's when I was an Army officer at Ft. Bliss. He was very nice and kind to me. Even though I was a 1st Lt at the time he always called me Colonel. It was kind of funny at the time. And someone would always buy me a beer or two. They had a lot of fun with my Boston accent.
In Sept. of 64, I was discharged and got on with my life back in Boston. Whenever I came back to El Paso I would always visit the PI where Jim was headquartered. . When he would see me he would yell out--The Colonel in in the house.
It was with great sadness that I read about his passing.
My condolences go out to his entire family

To the Family of James Paternoster,
I am a friend of Lauretta Christensen. I teach second grade students in Cresco, IA. I wanted you to know that I plan to select books related to softball and place those books in my classroom library in James' memory.
My sympathy to all of you.

It was with great sadness when we learned that Pat had passed away. Robyn a I only met him twice. Once when he came to Australia with Margie in 2000. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and especially loved the fresh seafood. We met him again in 2006 when Robyn and I went to see them in El Paso in 2006. They made sure that we got to see Juarez, UTEP and beautiful Ruidoso. It was Robyn's first trip overseas and she really enjoyed it. During one of our conversations he expressed his deep appreciation for his family and friends. He said he loved them, the Dallas Cowboys, UTEP and my sister Margie. Good Man. Rest in Peace Amigo.
