James Paulson Obituary
Jim served honorably in the Marines from April 1, 1957, to March 31, 1960. His time in the Corps was a formative period, instilling values that he carried throughout his life. After his military service, Jim dedicated over 44 years to the Chicago Transit Authority. He began as a bus driver, later taking on the role of operating the Wreck Wagon, responding to and managing on-site transit emergencies.
Beyond his professional life, Jim was a fan of the Cubs and the Bears, a reflection of his deep roots in Chicago. He also enjoyed the Indy 500 and NASCAR and was seldom seen without an Old Style beer in hand, cheering on his favorite teams or drivers.
Jim was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his children Michael Paulson, Carole Prete, Margaret Montgomery, Teresa Paulson, and James Barton; grandchildren Jim Paulson, Traci Veschak, William Szura Jr, Douglas Montgomery, Samantha Montgomery, Becky Orton, Danielle Paulson, Elizabeth Prete, Benjamin Prete, Veronica Barton and Nick Barton and four step-grandchildren; along with many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta L. Paulson; parents Herbert M. Paulson and Dorothy H. Nelson; brother Herbert Paulson; and grandson Gregory Prete.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 12 PM at Hackney's on Lake, 1514 E. Lake Ave., Glenview, IL. Jim's life, service, and joy will be honored and remembered by all who knew him.

My dad was honest and a hard worker who took care of us. He taught me a lot in life and did his best. I wish we had more time together.
