We were just informed today of Jim's passing. We knew Jim as a valued customer and friend. He always brightened the day when he visited the shop. He always came bearing gifts of treats or goodies and with stories of
who he was cooking for today. He sense of humor would always lift our spirits.
He will be missed by all here at Midas

To the Payton family...
I was saddened to hear of Jim's passing. I have a lot of great memories of him, from his time at the bowling alley, and the fun he had singing karaoke. I will never hear the song, "Brandy" again without thinking of the big guy. Rest in peace, my friend.

I just came from officially saying goodbye one last time. I still am in dis-belief, but I know that I had the pleasure to know you for many years and that I am thankful for. Memories of bowling standout the most when I remember you and the tips you gave me throughout my journey of bowling. Jimmy P. I too will miss your witty comments and truthful statements even if it was about me in front of everyone, but it was true and I respect that! I will miss you.

I am so sad to hear of Jimmy's death. We are 3rd cousins. His grandfather Clarence Kitchen and our gandfather Henry Kitchen were brothers, and Jimmy's mom Ann and my dad Edgar were 1st cousins.

The Kitchen family came from California, MO, a small country town in central MO.
I met Jimmy only one time, and that was at the funeral of his grandmother, Carrie, and since then, we have been communicating with each other.

From the Kitchen family in Sedalia, MO, and Oakland, CA we send our heartfelt condolences to our Kitchen cousins, and hope to see you all sometime soon.

Hey Uncle Jimmy, it's ya boy, ya go to guy, the one that always had ya back. It hurts me deeply that you're not here with us anymore. You were many things to me man, uncle, friend, teacher and most recently, co-worker(I WON"T BE LATE ANYMORE). Looks like I'm the go to guy nowadays. Everything I do now has you comin through it in some way. I'll keep your spirit runnin through me man. I'll be down here everyday takin care of aunt carolyn and it just won't be the same without you here with me. Imma still look out for you still like always cuz I know you're still lookin out for me. I"m gonna miss all of our classic wrestling bouts. I know they were never like You vs Jamil but they were special to me. They were always great even tho I'm sure my record was something like 0-100. I gotta thank you again for teaching me the wristlock and of course the secret to the ribs. I'm still trying to get like you on that. Imma always remeber when you spit vitamin water all across the room. Remember this tho man you are and always were cold like that.

I LOVE YOU MAN. ALWAYS HAVE, ALWAYS WILL. This ain't goodbye cuz I know imma see you again.

Love U Miss U.

My thoughts go out to you and your family at this very difficult time. I can only imagine the pain you must be feeling and appreciated how much you were there for me during my lost. The pain does lessen, but there isn't a day that goes by that you will forget. I wished I had words to help you, but I realize in the end only time helps.

Jimmy, you were such a kind, caring, big hearted guy. When called you always answered. There were times when I needed your help and needed it now not on "JIMMY TIME" I would use that older sister tone and you would get that "excuse me" look on your face, but would come through. I will need to get a new electrician, painter, plumber, computer tech, mechanic etc. You were truely a jack of all trades. I will miss your quick wit, it made me smile. I find comfort knowing you rest peacefully in Gods hands.
All my love, your sister Nancy

I'm truly saddened by my friend Jim's passing. Jim and I were team mates on the North Hennepin Tennis Team. My most memerable memory when we played against each other was how competitive he was. As the competitions went on I found that he was a great guy, a guy that I will always remember as a true friend. My deepest thoughts and prayers are with Jim's family.

I was so sorry to hear about Jim's passing and along with his immediate family and numerous friends will miss him. As a fellow bowler, Jim and I would often discuss his many accomplishments and the ease of his bowling skills. Admittingly, I was a fan, and although he and I never bowled in a league together, we always greeted each other with a smile and handshake. For that I'll never forget him. May he REST IN PEACE. My sincere condolences to his Family.

To the Payton/Toley family,

I can't express how very sorry my family and I are. I know how devastated we are to have lost such a loving, giving person, and can't imagine the pain you all must be feeling. Jim did so much for me and my family, and I hope he knew how much we loved him and appreciated him. He's in a better place now and I know he is looking down on all of us and watching out for everyone. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.

Love,

Cassie, Steve, Tyler, Chris, Irene (Nanie)

To the Payton family:

I was just devastated to read about Jim's passing. I met Jimmy through our mutual friend and teammate Tony Anderson, and we became fast friends. It was always fun to watch Jimmy do things with a bowling ball that most players of higher repute couldn't. I feel remorseful that I hadn't run into him since our friend Tony passed so suddenly 3 years ago. Now they can both 'abuse' each other while waiting for the rest of us..

He was one of our original "Misfits" tournament team and was always the "quiet" jokester..I'm going to miss him, talking bowling music and tennis..

My sympathies to you all.

Oh Jimmy, you've been my brother, my friend, my pal, my confidant and my go-to man. Who's going to fix my computer now? WHo's going to hook up that damn digital TV gizmo thing? I didn't even have to think about that stuff because I always had YOU to rely on. Oh Jimmy .... it helps to know that you're at peace now and that you did things on your own terms, as usual. I can still see your big happy face though and I'll find comfort in the stories and memories we've shared these 25 years we've been friends. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Peace to you, man. Oh yeah, I will never forget cookin' ribs in the rain a coupla summers ago. You shoulda won first prize, dude! I hear you got yourself a placque though...

Jimmy, you were my little brother, the twin that was born 2 years later. We went through so much together that it will be hard for me to not hear your comebacks when I say something that is really out there. I will miss the closeness that we shared, the loving name calling, the phone calls asking what are you doing, when you know I am at work. You were my heart and it was supposed to be womb to tomb for us. I know that you will be with me to keep me strong and that God had a special plan for you. I know that mom, dad, our grandparents, uncles, aunts and a host of other relatives and friends that preceded you were there to greet you. I know you have found the peace with God's help that you needed. I love you and will have you with me in body and spirit all of the time. With love and heartache your sister, Barbara

Jim, seems so long ago when we first met bowling a summer Jr. league at New Hope. Soon after we were teammates at both Elsies and Minnehaha, and a friendship that lasted much longer. So many memories, driving to Chicago to bowl the Pete, your jalapeno ribs when you catered my brother's graduation party, Christmas at my parents house, just to name a few. Good bye my friend. You will be missed.

To my Uncle Jimmy,
How do you say goodbye, I have been thinking of that since your passing...how do I say goodbye. What do I say? It's all confusing and seems like a blur or unreal, even though I know it is real. Throughout my life you did so much for me and for everyone else. You were truly a giver. You were indeed one of my role models and you taught me that all role models are not saints but normal people who make mistakes, but try to change for the betterment of thier selves and for others. I would like to thank you for many of things that you showed me, like wrestling real AWA style, the classics. I would like to thank you for showing me how to change a tire and drive and attempting to show me haw to bowl and play tennis ( I hated it) also how to run around North Commons Park (miles sure can add up)and get in shape for football. Oh yeah also those Greco-Roman Sit ups on the yellow kitchen chairs. You truly were a jack of all trades and one of the greatest men that I will ever know in my lifetime. I hope you know how much you meant to me and my family and our entire family. You reached out to a lot of people and you will never be missed, you will always be loved and remebered
