Anna C. Newman

Anna Charlotte Blatau Newman, 94, of North Versailles, died peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014. She was a daughter of the late Anna Blatau Gilchrist and stepdaughter of the late of Charles Gilchrist. Mrs. Newman was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1932. She was thereafter a resident of East McKeesport and a devout member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. She worked for the Diocese of Pittsburgh as the St. Robert Bellarmine administrative assistant for more than 40 years. She was a member of Diocese of Pittsburgh Association of the Ladies of Charity and of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 8430 in East McKeesport. Anna was predeceased by her husband, John J. Newman Sr.; and her son, John J. "Red" Newman Jr. Surviving are her grandchildren, Adam (Cathy) Newman and Monica (Martin) Dorfman; as well as her great-grandchildren, Rebecca (Mario) Coppa, Alyssa Newman and Maya Dorfman. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the JAMES F. KUTCH FUNERAL HOMES and CREMATORY, 433 Lincoln Highway, East McKeesport, PA 15035, 412-823-4054. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Robert's Church. Burial will follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
