James "Jim" William Reeves-a loving husband, devoted father, proud papa, and loyal friend-passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and hard work.
Born on September 21, 1954, in Brady, Texas, to Robert Houston Reeves and Dorothy Inez (Ratliff) Reeves, James called Brady home throughout his early years and into college. During this time, he helped with his family's plumbing business and worked on the family place with racehorses. These experiences deeply rooted him in the values of small-town life. James was a proud Eagle Scout, carrying many of those lifelong lessons with him and sharing those skills with others.
On October 20, 1979, James married the love of his life, Miranda Sue (Rusche), after they both graduated from Tarleton State University. Their love story was built on faith, hard work, determination, and unwavering commitment.
Following graduation, James began his career as a draftsman at Stein Lumber Company in
Fredericksburg, Texas, before returning to the ranch to pursue his passion for working the Rusche family ranch. Family tradition and heritage were traits James held close to his heart.
Ranching was more than an occupation for James-it was a way of life. He had a deep passion for raising good cattle, traveling to stock shows, hunting, fishing, and everything outdoors. His witty personality, steadfast faith, and love for his family were cornerstones of his character. Whether he was offering words of wisdom like "Let go and let God" and "It is what it is" or simply working in his signature Wranglers, suspenders, and red bandana tucked in his pocket, James lived with authenticity and grace.
Faith was a guiding force throughout his life, and he was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cherry Springs, Texas.
His commitment to the community was evident through his involvement with the Prairie Mountain Community Club and his service on the Farm Bureau Board, Llano County Community Center, as a 4-H Adult Leader, and with the Hill Country Livestock Raisers Association. His small-town values remained strong throughout his life.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Reeves; his daughter, Jennifer Page, her husband, Cody, and his treasured grandson, Eli Page. He also leaves behind his brothers, Tommy Reeves and Robert Reeves; his sister, Sharon (Reeves) Turnbow; and his sister-in-law, Ella Jean (Rusche) Holland. He is also survived by his extended family of nieces, nephews, and many loved ones.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Jim and Emmie Rusche; his sister-in-law, Cynthia Reeves; and his brothers-in-law, Danny Turnbow and Pete Holland.
Whenever we see a red bird or a red bandana, we will always think of James and the warmth, strength, and wisdom he brought into our lives. Though his boots may rest, his legacy continues in every sunrise and sunset over the hills he called home.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
James will be dearly missed but never forgotten. He will return home to the family ranch where he will be set free, healed, and soaring with Jesus.
