My deepest sympathy to you all! I too never knew Shorty's birth name, he was "Shorty" to us. You will not remember me, Sam Johnson. I am the son of Ethel and Melvin (Jake) Johnson my grandfather used to farm just up the creek back in the 40's and 50's.
I live in Elk City, Ok but I read the Oneonta Star on the internet.

I will always remember Jim as "Uncle Short." I have fond memories of spending Thanksgiving there as a young girl; jumping on the huge trampoline, and going hunting with my dad, "Pop" and Uncle Short. I have never met a hunter who is even half the hunter Uncle Short was. Sending warm wishes to Aunt Donna and my cousins.
Sincerely, "Non"

To Donna,boys and family.
I was lost for words, when I recieved a phone call from my your Granddaughter Trudie, that her Grandpa had passed away. I remember Jim, as a hard worker and always still made time for his family. I use to go Jim and Donnas house many years ago. When had alot of fun there. Nobody can take those good old days away from us. He will be missed by all,but he is in a better place. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Lyn and I want to extend our most sincere sympathies. He has so many good memories of Jim and everyone on the farm when he was a wee fellow. He talks about it all the time. We were saddened to hear this news when Ben told us yesterday. You are all in our thoughts and prayers and we are so very sorry for your loss.

My sympathies to you all, took me a minute to realize that this was "Short", guess I really never knew his birth name.
Thinking of you all, rummaging thru alot of memories of growing up and the times with my dad, Ma, (Betty) and the rest of us all.
Thats one thing that no-one can take away, memories, may you cherish them forever and always.
Love,
Kim
