James Ruby

James Franklin Ruby, 74, of Oakland, MD, died Saturday, February 19, 2022, at his home. Born August 13, 1947, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Vernon Franklin and Violet Luella (Armacost) Ruby. James was a self-employed carpenter and has also enjoyed furniture refinishing. He attended New Life Christian Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of Proctor-Kildow Post 71, American Legion. Fishing was his passion and he was a member of the Rebels Bass Master Fishing Club. In addition to fishing, James loved the outdoors, including hunting, camping, prospecting for gold and tending to all wildlife. He had an uncontrollable desire to help people. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Marcia Lynn (Pratt) Ruby, his son, Jay Franklin Ruby and wife, Alicia, Elko New Market, MN; his daughter, Melissa Kay Daily, Crestview, FL; his brother, David George Ruby, Upperco, MD; his sister, Patricia Jane Morfoot, Oakland; eight grandchildren, Alaina and husband, Nate, Renae, Terriann, Tyler, Jayanna, Leah, Charles and Olivia and five great-grandchildren, Samantha, Layla, Ava, Noah and Ivy. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, from 3-4 pm. The Funeral Service will follow at 4 pm, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Roger Kitzmiller officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Hospice of Garrett County, P.O.
